Elemental (2025)
H160 x W140 cm, wool woven work on velvet canvas
Digital hand weaving
Elements consists of four woven panels representing the natural forces of water, fire, wood, and earth, rendered respectively in blue, red, green, and ochre tones. Through minimalist composition and rhythmic weaving, the artist explores the generative relationships and cyclical interdependence among the elements. Each color field embodies a distinct form of energy: blue as the memory and fluidity of water; red as the desire and destruction of fire; green as the growth and extension of wood; and brown as the grounding and absorption of earth. The woven surface functions like a breathing material body where motion and stillness converge. Echoing the cosmology of the Five Elements—water generating wood, wood generating fire, fire generating earth—the work reveals the continuity of transformation that underlies existence itself. Each panel is both an autonomous field and a part of an evolving totality.
